Visiting Artist Application
The purpose of the EFF Visiting Artist program is to invite artists who live 80+ miles from Emporia to participate in the Emporia First Friday Art Walk and experience the Emporia area. A stipend of $200 plus $50 in Emporia Main Street Gift Certificates are provided to the accepted artist to assist with the expense of travel and encourage exploration of local businesses.
To be considered for the program, complete the application and agree to the conditions below. Notification of acceptance will be within four weeks of the submission. Artist selection is entirely up to the discretion of the Emporia First Friday Executive Director and/or its Board.
- Art must be made by the artist, appropriate to be viewed by all ages, and not infringe on any copyright laws. AI art or AI-assisted art is not accepted.
- Artists who are chosen for an exhibit space will also sign an Exhibit Contract.
- The artist will promote their participation in the EFF Art Walk through their social media and other communication channels.
- The artist will set up and be present at the assigned venue for the entire Art Walk, 5:00 pm to 8:00 p.m.
- The artist will be respectful to the hosting venue and its staff.
- The artist will greet and sign passports for Art Walkers.
- The artist will provide their own cash for change and/or an electronic payment method.
- If cancellation is necessary, artists will provide EFF with at least 48 hours’ notice.
The stipend and Main Street Gift Certificates will be distributed to the selected artist directly during the Art Walk.
Artist space varies, but venues typically provide one to two 6-foot tables.
Exhibits have room for approximately 13-15 2D art pieces that are at least 11×14 inches.
Sales Tax:
Participating Art Walk artists are required to collect and pay sales tax on all sales. A certificate specific to each event will be provided to artists prior to the Art Walk for display. For more information on how to pay sales tax, visit our Sales Tax Info page.
